Otta Demonstration at Zoo Naboo

Remember when all the cool kids here at SWAG were doing hypothetical Star Wars self-portraits?

I always intended to do one. I remember my initial thought being; "What, you mean if I wasn't born as a magical space lizard man that had fantastic adventures helping decide the fate of the galaxy??". But then, I like to imagine that had I been born into the Star Wars universe with largely the same interests and opportunities as I currently have, I'd probably have ended up as basically the same person.

Except that in this fantastic hypothetical universe, my microphone would work better, I'd be able to afford new shoes more regularly, and I'd be a heck of a lot better at drawing myself because this doesn't really look much like me at all.

How can you tell if someone really loves their job?...

They're still doing it, even in their fantasies...

Nice piece Tussy.

Mercy

Love it! Those little critters are really well imagined.
Nice work on the spectators too - must have taken you ages!!

Haha, I love it! I would draw a Star Wars linguist at work, but that would probably be... boring.

Haha! Well, the credit for imagining those creatures goes entirely to Terryl Whitlatch and Bob Carrau, as you'll find them in 'The wildlife of Star Wars; a field guide'. ;) I had to laugh out loud when I saw the entry for 'Otta' ...I mean they're not even trying to pretend it's anything but a re-skinned Lutrinae.

I do love the book for bringing a few more 'cute and fuzzy' type critters to the SW universe... I only wish the Eopie was anything NEAR as wonderful as its Planet Earth counterpart, or that there were any decent dog analogues AT ALL!!

Really cute Tusserk!

If your going to complement me, don't tell me my work is neat, cool or awesome. If you really like it, tell me why you like it and what you like about it. Only then I'll take it as a complement.

Major props for using the Latin name! Though, I should expect it from a zoologist...

I LOVE the SW wildlife book - one of the best art books I've ever bought, hands down! And that dewback-hide jacket really pulls it together, you know...

And if I'm not mistaken, there was at least ONE Star Wars linguist...

Aside from being freakin' awesome, this pic toally reminds me that I never finished MY self portrait.

Love those ottas, Tuss.
And what about the anubas? They are KINDA dog-like.

Tusserk

Anoobas... are probably one of the best/closest dog-things the universe has to offer, yeah! But why does 'alien animal' almost always have to mean 'ugly noses and enormous tusks or improbable face-horns'?? Are a couple of cute doggy-faced beasts too much to ask for?

And HEY HEY-- could it be, a SWAG trip to the zoo?? ;)
