Y-Wing Escort Frame
Well, I don't think it's so bad for one of my first forays into 3D artwork.
A request for JediScholar, using Google SketchUp and Adobe Photoshop.

Your first foray into 3D artwork? Well, you certainly can't tell just by looking at it. Very slick, very smooth work. Reminds me of a starfighter-version of the Outbound Flight-thingy...
But what does it say on the fuselage there? My aurebesh is a bit rusty...
"When will then be now?"

Looks great. I know it might not look as good but practically if you turned the Y-wings belly out (Topside into the mothership) the pilots and droids could board a lot easier from this pocket carrier.

A good point, but the carrier was not meant as anything more than a hyperspace conveyance with a longer range than the fighter's original systems provided. If there were facilities aboard the carrier that would make the Y-Wing pilots want to leave their starfighters during the journey, then yes, a "belly out" arrangement would make more sense.
Or at least that's how I understood it from JediScholar's request. I was under the impression that is was little more than a flying coat rack with gas tanks attached. Hope I wasn't wrong in that assumption...

This is awesome, you captured the concept completely! I am very happy to see this done! I especially like the clean lines and the level of detail.
Thanks!
