FanTASTIC! I totally love how it is beautiful in a hideous monstrosity kinda way.
Like it fell outta the ugly tree, hit every branch on the way down, and landed in a big ol' pool of kick-ass sweetness!
Hisham is the man.
Thanks gang. The Admiral commented that the front airlock between the mandibles are unusable due to its location where it can't mate with other ships' airlocks. That's true, I suppose. Any ideas why that airlock's there?
Do we ever see the thing in action? Any suggestion that it might extend into a, uh, tube of sorts to get past the mandibles? Or perhaps an extension-tube airlock fitting is standard for larger vessels?
Good idea. I was also thinking perhaps a separate structure that designed to dock with the mandibles (with a section that fits between them) to form an external cargo module or a passenger module.
But that could possibly crush the forward antenna array I think.
Dude! This is awesome!!
There's no doubt, Hisham, you've done an amazing job!
The Admiral usually is pretty thorough when it comes to technicalities of mechanics function and placement.
Only reasoning I could think of is what Tusserk suggested, using one of those super thin flexi plastic extendable tubes... Unless.....
The actual docking port is on the side of the vessel, opposite to the cockpit, and the "thing" between the mandibles is the escape pod... Yeah, that'd wreck the comms array dish, but if your forced to abandon ship, the comes array wouldn't be important anymore anyways.
OR, in this guy's case, with all the added weaponry to the ship, that whole boxy dockingport structure between the mandibles could be where an auxiliary power generator (several?) is seated; considering how much weaponry this little transport is outfitted with. With all that gear added to the ship, you're going to have to sacrifice something, living quarters space, escape pod, etc...

Thanks guys.
Oh, Terras. The Holonet's back.
Maybe it's an escape pod that just drops down. Thus it doesn't blow up the dish, and it can jetison away from the main ship after it drops. I think the side bulk heads are the places to dock it to.
Yeah! I've always believed that Corellian freighter cockpit modules are also jettisonable lifepods. I wonder if we'll see this some day onscreen.
Thanks for the heads up Hish! ;)
I'm definitely in favor of the cockpit being the detachable lifepod too.
Suppose the box-like housing between the mandibles could function as a pod 'drop-down' mechanism, with a small repulsor or rockets to provide the force necessary to clear the pod away from the ship.

Very Cool! This makes the Falcon look like a stock model.
I thought with all the attention it's already gotten, it deserved a bit more time on the homepage. Featured image :)
So glad to see this get featured! Hish is truly the man.

No problem... I think it's a great piece of work.. and it's out of your usual medium... ships just isn't something I think of when I think "Hisham" but this one has changed that.. :)
LOL.. Have a lot of time on your hands Asok? So I missed some things from time to time :)
Heheh, I just remembered Hish had done work for fan supplements in the past, on several topics, one of which being... vehicles!

Yeah, way to much time :) Hehe...
Holy frappe. For a second I thought that Asok's post with all the links was a spammer attack.
Thanks for teh link reference, man. I was thinking of doing the same thing with my vehicles too the other day.
lulz.

The ship turned out so beautifully.
Thank You Ever So Much,
