CGHub Pin-Up Challenge

Ok, I've been working a lot on some things of the artistic nature. Most of that is looking at the work I already have and trying to decide where to go next, what needs work, ect.....all the responsible, mature things that an artist serious about their career needs to do from time to time.

To be honest....I have been struggling a lot with what it is that I do. I kinda lost focus, interest, and what sanity I did have. So when I saw the challenge for a pin-up in CGHub I thought 'why not?'

I love pin-ups. They are simple, they don't make me think too much, and of course, I get to draw Jynx in a time when a lot of the art I am doing now involves venturing into territory I am not comfortable in.

Needless to say, it's also brought to light how much I need a scanner. I hate inking in the computer, especially since the only program I have is photoshop. Don't get me wrong, the computer isn't a bad thing, and I do have a tablet. But there is a finesse about inking digitally vs inking traditionally. I can't do the digital ink work on par with my traditional skills. It's sad to say but it's the truth.

Anyways...here's the process. My bad if anyone is offended by Jynx's speech bubble.

Time taken on this so far....from around 1p.m. today to current time which is 9 p.m. (I hate the line work in this BTW but I want to get something out so meh). I am most likely going to finish this in the next couple of hours. It's not due till the 28th of the month, but I feel like getting it done now.

Peace out folks....

(Ok I lied....I finished it now at 10:50 p.m.)

Now go over to CGHub and vote!

Looks like she's needing someone to light her fuse ;)

Reminds me a bit of Akima from Titan AE (awesome movie too), with a bit of Tank Girl mixed in ;)

If your going to complement me, don't tell me my work is neat, cool or awesome. If you really like it, tell me why you like it and what you like about it. Only then I'll take it as a complement.
