A request by Lord Crumb for a scene;

"This request is for a action battle scene between two Jedi Padawans and a Dark Jedi. The fight is taking place on the planet Mygeeto and on the same bridge that Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi is gunned down on in SW:ROTS.

The Jedi Padawans are on a mission, which is serving as their trial, to solve the murder of a Black Sun informer and his family on Dantoonie and have traveled to several planets looking for the killers. The Dark Jedi Sharek Torma was part of a Black Sun Assassination team that killed the informant. The Jedi Padawans were dispatched to solve the murder and retrieve important information about the Black Suns operations in certain parts of the galaxy. The fight is the climax of their search and confrontation with the Dark Jedi."

"The Scene: The Dark Jedi Sharek Torma's back is toward the viewer in a three-quarter view (you can see her right side and her back) with Eerin Lumna the female Zabrak charging toward her. Liam Camwell is behind Eerin Lumna and should be slightly bent over from a wound he has suffered to the mid-section. Although Liam Camwell was the one who had trouble resisting the Dark Side, it is Eerin Luma who has lost control and is close to falling to the Dark Side of the Force. The fight is taking place about midway on the bridge on Mygeeto.

Clothing: The Jedi Padawan should be in Jedi robes or something similar. They were trying for an undercover look.
Sharek Torma should be in the same outfit from previous pic."

I had taken an earlier request for these characters so when this scene came up in the forums I was quite interested. LC wanted to give the other artists a chance to take the request, and I was keen to see another artist's interpretation of these characters, so it's been sitting on the requests board for a wee while now.
However, since the creative juices were flowing at the time, I did draw up the characters for this piece. I tried getting the background in too but however much I tried it just didn't work.

It's been a few months since I've looked at these pictures and a return to the style I used, but I'm gonna give it a go. Hopefully it won't all go pear-shaped...

Lord Crumb

Thanks Mercy, I really do like the look of the characters, especially Eerin Lumna. The look on her face and the robe are great plus the way is charging forward. Looking forward to the finished piece. Let the Force follow through you and create those wonderful pictures.

Well, I've got a background up. It's better than my last attempt, at least, but I still can't get the Miraluka into the picture without the perspectice being shot. I might be able to do another one for her with the same background or something...

Xanamiar

Mercy.. might try making the background like a picture window, then pull out a room, and put the Miraluka in the room looking at the other two... might be able to get the perspective correct that way :) just a thought... it's looking really good.

Mercy

Good Idea, Xan. I like that! It would be reminiscent of the first picture of Sharek Torma in front of the blue window.

My only worry is that the scene was meant to be taking place on the bridge itself. My previous attempts at the background were with the bridge stretching away behind them as if they were on it, but it just didn't seem to work. I thought that, this time, I would try it as a illustrative panel, rather than a setting necessarily. I might try and draw up another perspective of the bridge, or the skyline, for the Miraluka. However, I suspect that what really needs to be done is to draw the character up again, facing the viewer, for this to work...

Just thinking - this might all look a lot more convincing if I put the three characters on the bridge in the background too. It would give the viewer a lot more of a clue as to what they're looking at. Thoughts?

Xanamiar

I like it... Just a thought.. you may want to make the edge of the bridge behind them across the background, and show them as if they are standing on the bridge. Then you can keep the Miraluka facing the way she is...

Xanamiar

double post... and what I meant by that Mercy is to put them on the bridge in the foreground, with the background being an arial shot of it... put some perspective to it... :)

Lord Crumb

Mercy, the bridge can be the backdrop seen from a window or trying to place them on the bridge itself is K with me. Your cityscape pictures and the Dantoonie one were awesome and the one here is great too. Just let the creative juices flow and let go your conscience self and act on instinct. I trust your artist skills. Either way you go, I know it will be great.

Lord Crumb

I've been looking at the pic and wondered if you could shrink Liam and enlarge Eerin just a bit. She is protecting Liam whose has been injuried from Sharek Torma. Just a suggestion. As I have stated before you are the artist and I am the requester, I still think it is awesome.

Xanamiar

He is behind her,((designated by where his feet are, compared to hers...)) so unless they are the same size ((where as now he looks to be taller than she is.)) the perspective is still good. Especially if Sharek is put lower and looking at the girl. But then again, I don't know a lot about your characters.

Lord Crumb

I have Liam's height as 5'10" and Eerin Lumna is 6' tall and a year older than Liam. Liam is the male Padawan who has had a brush with the Dark Side and is sorely tempted from time to time while Eerin is the serene one who has never been tempted to use the Dark Side of the Force until this mission. When Liam is injuried in combat with Sharek, Eerin looses control and rushes at her to strike her in anger and hate. Which is what is represented in the scene that Mercy is drawing. You go Mercy!

Mercy

Thanks for all the input guys!
I agree, Eerin needs to be a bit bigger to keep the feeling of her being closer.
I think, otherwise, I'm pretty happy with this first picture. I do think Sharek needs a separate picture to be done for her from scratch. I've tried putting them all in one picture and the sizing looks badly skewed unless the padawans are made to be tiny. Also, I hadn't realised when I first drew the individual characters, but Eerin's line of sight is wrong for Sharek's. I'll chuck one of my old attempts up so you can see what I mean...

Mercy

Okay, the site seems to be having issues at the moment and won't let me upload pictures at present. I'll give it a go again later...

Mercy

Still can't get my old pic up, but I've had another go at getting all three characters into the picture - it's worked out better than I thought! I've altered Eerin's eyes and such to make it work. I think this is about as good as it's gonna get for having all three of them in the same picture. See what you think, anyway.

Lord Crumb

That is just so KEWL! That is looking good, but if you want to tinker with it some more that is K with me.

-LC :D
Big dumb grim.

Lord Crumb

I've really been looking at the last one you uploaded and it looks great. Remember it does really matter where Sharek is looking being a Miraluka (kinda like Daredevil who is blind but has the radar sense to see.) and where you positioned Eerin, she does appear to be looking at Sharek.

Have a Foster's or Export Gold on me (really can't send the money but in spirit) but I do not know if you drink or not, I know I don't. Ah...forget the beer, we need to keep your talents sharp. I know, I'am rambaling again.

Looking Great.

Mercy

Cheers guys!
LC, the spirit is always stronger than the spirits! Thanks for the thought.

I might have another look at this one tomorrow with a fresh eye, see if I can improve it, but I think this one's turned out okay! I re-drew Eerin's eyes in that last picture so that she would be looking at Sharek properly - in the original picture she seemed to be looking at the viewer. I get what you mean about the Miraluka not needing to be turned to them precicely, though, like she's seeing the scene without looking at it.

Anyway, I'm glad you like the picture. If I don't manage to upgrade it any I'll let you know, and post it to Gallery. LC, if you want a high-res copy just let me know and I'll email it to you.

P.S. Fosters is an Aussie brand so it's not as common over here. We do get a lot of Export Gold but if you want to be really Kiwi you drink Tui!
I don't drink very often, though, and even then I generally prefer a good Marlborough red wine. Do you not drink at all? In veno veritas, man! And now I ramble...

Lord Crumb

Thanks Mercy, yes a would like a hi-res copy and it does look great. I didn't notice that you had moved her eyes to look at Sharek, I just thought it was the way you placed her on the background. Thanks for everything you do on this site to make requesters drawings come to life and the colors are well done.

-LC :-)

P.S. No, I haven't had beer in about fifteen years and even longer since I use to smoke cigs. But ever now and than I might have a sip of muscadine wine that some friends make from time to time. Have a great day in NZ.

EvilWalks

Wow....that is incredible. The action in the scene, the illusion of movement and tree dimensions, the background.

My favourite thing about this piece however, is the shadowing, especially on the clothing fabric.

Well done, as always!

Mercy

Thanks guys! LC, I'll send you a copy.
You'll be pleased to know I have just given up cigarettes! I'm on about my hundredth day now...
