Hey all, this is a bit that I was working on a while back and I want to finish it off some. While the pen/ink + coloring style works for me I am more interested in pursuing a more painterly approach. Not sure if I am ready to start that with this piece or not however. What I want to accomplish with this piece is to take it to the next level with detail, shading, and color. Any tips or comments are more than welcome. Glad to be back!

Mark,

That's looking great! With a little more work I think you could get rid of your pen lines entirely, and I think that would REALLY help it out, especially around the mouth. It's looking awesome, and I can't wait to see the final. Are you going to do a background for it? or just what you've got?

If you choose to take the detail up on it (I personally don't think it's necessary) then work on rounding out the limbs. The feet, ears, and hands all look great, but the furred portions of the Ewok look flat in comparison. Increase that rounding effect through shading and details. It looks like you've started adding a furred texture to those portions as well, so keep it up!

I like the colors and the textures so far, but at some parts the shading still looks to flat and doesn't correspond smoothly with the lineart. Especially his arms and hands give me that impression, but the additional work needed to fix this should be rather minimalistic.

The colors and shading actually look best (or better: perfect) on his hood and bag, as well as his legs.

Apart from that, pretty neat job, this is looking to take one great shape. :D
