The Datapad screen was a multi-step process. First making a new camera angle render within the original scene, then brought into photoshop, where my custom Holo-Vid camera Scan-Lines effect were added. On the next dozen layers, the rest of the graphics, design, and text was added. Then the screen image was brought back into Carrara where I loaded the datapad, the screen texture for the screen display image. Then a whole new scene was built around the datapad, to create someone's living space / personal quarters. Most likely belonging to a Colonel, Major, Lieutenant, or Sargent . This image was the close-up of the datapad.

Materials & Setup:
Intel Core2Quad Q6600, 2gb ram, Carrara 6.0
Original Resolution: 2048x1536. ~40 minutes render time
Models: Datapad - unknown, DLL-44 by Dodger, Stylus by Ellpro, Beret by HT3D, Level 19 by Stonemason, GFSC by Stonemason, Alien Drone by Antares (Franz Muenz) & converted by Virus

Notes: No postwork save signature added to final render.

Just for those curious or interested, the holovid-scanline technique i mentioned and used for the video-cam insert, is the same one I tooled up and posted Here: Found new "Holo" scanline filter technique. Check it out.

Couple addendum / sidenotes while I'm at it:

The display screen originally has a pure black background that I made, and went with the bright green + dim green color combinations, kinda a mono-tone style... However, in the 3d program, I needed to amplify the screen's brightness and clarity so I added a 'glow' option with effect on the green color range. Instead of enhancing the green range, it gave a 'backlit / backlighting' screen effect instead. Kinda like the backlighting in digital watches and the like. Still cool outcome I think, even if unexpected ;) (and no, I didn't want to photoshop post-work the 2 images.)

Also a few accidentally and unintentionally left out credits:
SFCS II by Davorama, Glasses by Kirisute, Koff Cigarettes by Trekgirrl, lit cigarette from Coure de moda, lighter by mostdigitalcreations. Not sure where the sheathed knife is from, nor the flask... (I really need to figure out a better item database system to better credit the modellers)

Makes for a neat ready ingame plot-hook for the GM too, don't it? :D

I'll have to do more of these style of things. Provided the right muse is there ;)
