My first post to this forum. Draughting pen on cartridge paper. One of my early SW-inspired drawings, made for a fanzine many, many years ago, inspired by the heroic (if somewhat brief) defence of Princess Leia's ship at the beginning of A New Hope.

I really like the gun, man - nice work!
Yeah, wicked blaster!
The gun was drawn from a prop I made for a Star Trek convention. As Han Solo's blaster was built round a Mauser 9mm Parabellum, this was a Luger 9mm, with an extended barrel loosely based on an M-16. The Imperial Stormtroopers used Sten/Stirling SMGs, fitted with very short magazines and modified with all sorts of scabbed on bits. The really nice thing about them was that they were actually firing (with rotoscoped light beam effects), generating smoke and other environmental effects that are still fairly difficult to do convincingly in CG.
